SIMPLE SACRIFICES

Unused sailboats, unused time fading by twilight, voyages missed, all suggest loss. The symbol of the ultimate loss and sacrifice, the cross, is built into the structural grid of the design through repeated crossing of horizontal and vertical lines.
Loss can be overwhelming and destructive or simpler to accept and constructive when integrated into a larger, spiritual, harmonized vision. To further create a unified effect, red and blue (opposites in the color spectrum) were used as the only colors in the painting, in varying tones from dark to light.
